The federal capital Vienna will implement starting Monday the obligatory registration in the gastronomy.
Vienna introduces an obligatory registration of guests in the catering trade. This should make it easier to track contact persons in case of coronavirus infections. Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) announced this on Thursday.
The federal capital Vienna will issue a decree, which will come into force on Monday. A corresponding form is currently being developed.
Single sheets, no lists
Restaurant owners are required to provide forms in which the guests must register. This is to be specified in the house right of the respective catering trade enterprises, as mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) explained. He emphasized that lists are deliberately avoided, but instead the implementation is based on individual sheets. This is to ensure that other visitors cannot see who also visited the restaurant on that day.
The forms must be collected by the restaurant owners and kept for four weeks. The data protection should be guaranteed in any case, was assured. The authorities are only allowed to inspect the documents in the event of an infection.
Entrepreneurs who refuse to hang up the forms will have to face penalties. The regulation, Ludwig emphasized, had also been agreed with the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Walter Ruck. For the time being, the regulation will apply until the end of the year.
The head of the city also confirmed that he did not want to bring forward the curfew to 10:00 p.m., as other Austrian states do. This would increase the risk that people would go to illegal parties after the bars have closed or continue to party at home with a larger number of people, Ludwig said.
